Child Welfare Multidisciplinary Expert Group

According to section 14 of the Child Welfare Act (417/2007), a municipality or several municipalities should appoint a child welfare expert group consisting of health and social care representatives, child development professionals and other experts needed in child welfare work.

In Central Finland, KOSKE coordinates the multidisciplinary group of experts, which provides consultation and assistance for child welfare workers in the region’s municipalities. The expert group handles one case in a meeting, and usually gives a written statement on the case. The expert group gathers once a month (if needed), and meetings must be reserved at least three weeks in advance by the municipal employees.
